2007 NCADD-Maryland Tuerk Conference
The theme of this year’s conference was “Women, Trauma and Addiction”. Highlights included a keynote by nationally known lecturer Stephanie Covington, PhD on the topic of “The Addiction/Trauma Connection: A Woman Centered Approach”. Plenary presentations included lectures by Lisa Najavits, PhD on her “Seeking Safety” therapeutic model and a lecture by NCADD-Maryland board member Christopher Welsh, MD. As members of the NCADD scientific advisory committee Dr. Welsh and his co-presenter David Gorelick, MD provided conference attendees with a “Medication Update” on a number of medications currently being used, or developed, for the treatment of addiction.In addition to the keynote and plenary presentations those in attendance had a host of workshops to choose from on various topics pertinent or relevant to the fields of substance abuse and mental health.
